Bio:
Sergio A. Garza-Corona is a partner and co-founder of Garza Durán Abogados (2009). Previously, Sergio worked in a highly reputed law firm located in Monterrey, Mexico for more than 10 years. Sergio Garza is co-founder of Angeles Syndicates (2014); a syndicate of angel investors which invest in the early stages of projects engaged in developing and implementing technological solutions. For more than 22 years, Sergio has represented domestic, foreign, and multinational clients in the design and implementation of sophisticated legal structures, negotiation of mergers and acquisitions, negotiation of joint ventures, financings, real estate acquisitions and conflicts resolution, among other matters. Sergio has been elected by his peers as member of the Academic Board of the Facultad Libre de Derecho for two terms; one as student (1998-2000) and another as alumni (2018 2020). In 2006 he was invited as a law professor (Introduction to Common Law) by the Facultad Libre de Derecho. During 2018, Sergio participated as mentor with Victoria 147, a non-profit organization that assists women entrepreneurs.

Bio:
Fernando is founding partner of Garza Duran and has more than 23 years of experience as a specialized consultant in corporate law, financing, co-investments and strategic alliances. In his career, Fernando has advised and represented clients from a wide range of industries, including energy, financial services and telecommunications. Fernando was admitted to the New York Bar in 2005, after he concluded a master law degree at New York University. Fernando was a professor of business law at University of Monterrey from 2005 to 2007. 

Daniel Hurtado Palazuelos

Bio:
Daniel represented the University of Monterrey (UDEM) along with other students and won the First State Competition of Oral Commercial Trial organized by the Judiciary of the State of Nuevo Leon, México.

Daniel Hurtado is an associate of Garza Durán Abogados since 2022. Previously, Daniel worked in two different international corporations for more than 2 years as paralegal legal analyst. Daniel also had experience as an intern in a highly reputed law firm located in Monterrey, Mexico.

During his experiences in the international companies, Daniel developed required legal solutions such as legal structures, legal solutions on agreements, negotiation, investigation, and real estate matters.

Bio:
Iliana Nieto is a senior associate of Garza Durán Abogados and focuses her practice on corporate compliance, transactional and commercial law. In addition, she serves as general counsel for several clients, assisting them with the management in a range of legal issues that include, corporate, employment, immigration, intellectual property, real estate, regulatory compliance requirements, finance among others. Iliana’s primary work is researching, anticipating, and guarding companies against any legal risks, as well as assisting domestic and international corporation on negotiations in transactions and agreements by handling all local needs of clients in the context of legal and compliance investigations, including, as required, the representation of clients before the corresponding enforcement agencies. Before joining Garza Duran Abogados, Iliana was a Real Estate Legal Coordinator at Femsa Comercio, where she was direct responsible for the review, negotiation, drafting and closing of different types of agreements, such as: services, construction, infrastructure, purchase and sale, lease, built to suit, built to suit lease, easements, escrows, commissions, trusts, financial and credits, and non-disclosure, among others related to the opening of convenience stores in Mexico, Chile and Colombia. Additionally, she was responsible of assisting due diligences in real estate issues and transactions., management and supervision of outside counsel and public notaries, supervision and follow-up of settlements of corporate, commercial legal issues. 

Fernando Luis González Santos

Bio:
Fernando is an associate of Garza Durán since 2021 and focuses his practice on corporate compliance, transactional law, and migration law. Furthermore, Fernando serves as general counsel for a number of clients, assisting them with the management in several legal matters that include corporate, employment, immigration, intellectual property, real estate, regulatory compliance, finance, among others. Fernando has assisted on researching, anticipating and guarding companies against any legal liabilities, as well as attended domestic and international corporations on several transactions, securing the legal compliance before the corresponding Mexican authorities. Before joining Garza Duran, Fernando was an associate at an international law firm with locations in major cities around the world, where he focused his practice on foreign investment, financial regulation, commercial law, compliance matters, employment counseling, intellectual property and mergers and acquisitions. Fernando has participated in legislative initiatives to ensure best practices on financial companies, aiding them reducing risks and complying with state and federal regulations. As well as, acting as a legal representative of numerous foreign companies
assisting them on their green field projects ensuring legal compliance, in order to attract foreign investment to México and boost its economic development. 

Guillermo Chapa Montemayor

Bio:
Guillermo Chapa has been a member of Garza Duran law firm for 10 years as junior and senior associate until its promotion as junior partner in 2021. Previously he worked as an intern and junior associate in highly reputed in local and national law firms specialized in corporate and financial law practice. With a professional career of 12 years, Guillermo has participated in several financing transactions for real estate and private equity projects, the design and implementation of corporate legal structures and assets vehicles, as well as the implementation of mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, among other matters. Guillermo Chapa has participated as lecturer of legal matters for entrepreneurs of start-ups and business incubation programs of the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESM).
